It's the heart of summer right now as I post this recipe. It's hot. I mean REALLY HOT outside right now. I wanted a burger, but I also wanted it to feel refreshing and light. I didn't want a burger that was going to make me feel weighted down, with a fatty mayo-based sauce. My wife asked if I could make her some fresh tomato and mozzarella along with our dinner. THEN BOOM! The idea hit me like a ton of bricks.

"I'm going to make some tomato, mozzarella burgers!"

I hope you enjoy the recipe! There really isn’t much to it. The ingredients are simple, and so is the cooking process.

A few tips going into the recipe that you should know before making them as listed below:

Be generous with the Balsamic Glaze!

Give the mozzarella time to melt slightly before serving.

Don’t worry about getting too much char on the tomatoes, trust me, they will be amazing.

Keep the patties on the thicker side, it really helps the sliders to feel more substantial, and filling.

  • 2 Ea Fresh Mozzarella Balls
  • 1 Cup Cherry Tomatoes or More (enough for 3 tomatoes per burger)
  • 1 Ea Fresh Basil Chopped (to taste)
  • 6 Tbsp Balsamic Glaze Something semi-sweet
  • 1 Ea Salt, Pepper, Galic Powder I love Crove Food Co. BEEF Blend. It's really great.

Instructions

  • Start by season your ground beef to taste with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Form the beef into 12 small burger patties.
  • Begin cooking the burgers on a flat top griddle, or on the grill. (Feel free to also use a cast iron pan for this.
  • Grill or pan-sear the tomatoes until they are lightly charred, then press them lightly until they break open and let out a little bit of juice. (This will flatten the tomatoes as well and make them easier to lay on the burger.
  • By this time the burgers will likely be fully cooked, and you can top with the fresh mozzarella.
  • Toss some basil on top of the mozzarella while is melts, along with some balsamic glaze to taste.
  • Begin toasting your buns, and adding some balsamic glaze to the bottom bun.
  • Now assemble the burgers, Bottom bun, Balsamic glaze, Burger patty, Mozzarella, Basil, Tomatoes, more Balsamic glaze, then top bun.
  • Enjoy!
